Spoilers: Definite spoilers for the season one finale
Summary: After the season 1 finale, George starts to think everything will become back to normal, and then a thought begins to obsessively play in his head.

No one noticed Nina slip out of the house quietly. They were all too busy celebrating. Now, they were safe from the evil forces that plagued them. (Until some other threat showed itself, if there were to be more threats.)

It wasn’t until later that night, when George noticed that Nina wasn’t there. They were in the middle of watching Teen Wolf, (Mitchell had for some reason thought a werewolf movie was in order,) when George looked around and didn’t see her. He decided to wait a few minutes, maybe she was in the bathroom or still upstairs.

“I’ll be right back.” He muttered to no one in particular.

He walked up the stairs carefully, knowing he should have checked on her before. What was wrong with him? He should have been a better host and try to stay with her, especially after all she had seen tonight.

Everyone had been too preoccupied with everything else. He looked in his bedroom first, she wasn’t in there. The only trace that remained was the mug of tea that Annie had brought up an hour earlier, as well as the blanket she had wrapped herself in.

He briefly checked in the other rooms upstairs. For some reason, the more rooms he looked into, the more he felt a sense of panic growing up inside him.

The bathroom door was open and George made his way back down the stairs.

Mitchell threw a handful of popcorn at him. “Come on you are missing one of the best parts, you git.” Mitchell answered with a devilish grin on his face.

“Has anyone seen Nina?” George asked concerned. He pulled off his glasses and began to wipe them clean. He could hear that the movie was on one of the transformation scenes, and if he wasn’t feeling so panicked, he might have actually thought that was funny. (Actually, until today, it probably would have pissed him off, now that he thought about it.)

“Did she leave?” Annie tilted her head at him a little from where she was sitting on the floor. She started to pull herself up when George’s cell phone rang.

He answered it on before the second ring finished as he noticed the caller id. “Are you okay?” He asked barely above a whisper, forcing himself not to ask a million questions.

“I am fine, George. I just needed some time to be by myself and think about everything.” She said in what sounded like a sincere voice. “I’ll call you tomorrow okay.”

“Okay. I am---“ He couldn’t form the words of all he wanted to tell her. “I love you.” He finally was able to say after a few seconds of stammering, the words colliding in his head.

“I love you, too.” She hung up on him before he could answer.

As he put the phone back in his pocket, a terrible thought occurred to him. One he had thought about briefly, but had just ignored, now it rang constantly in his head almost like an obsessed chant. ‘You scratched Nina during your transformation.’ ‘You scratched Nina during your transformation.’ ‘You scratched Nina during your transformation.’

He felt himself falter a little as if he was going to faint.

Mitchell and Annie both get up and run to him. They escort him back to the couch where he sits down.

“Are you okay, George? Can I get you anything?” Annie asks, ready to head to the kitchen and make tea if he needs it.

George feels him laughing. “Btw I didn’t do anything stupid like scratch Nina or anything?” He buries his head in his hands.

He didn’t see Annie and Mitchell exchanges looks as they worried about telling him the truth or lying. Somehow, they came to an understanding, and Mitchell sat down next to George.

“The whole day must finally be hitting you, mate. I think you should try to go to sleep. You’ll have time later to sort out everything in your head.” Mitchell patted George’s back.

George nodded weakly. “You are right. I think I will head off to bed.” He gets off the couch.

Mitchell gets up as to follow him, but decides it might look suspicious.

George crawls into bed. There would be time later to sort everything out, he told himself before he closed his eyes. A few seconds he had fallen asleep.
