Challenge #266: There Was Only One Bed
Mar. 18th, 2020 02:58 pmThe Tantamount challenge is now closed.
Our next challenge is: There Was Only One Bed
Things might be feeling a bit dire right now, so I wanted to do this challenge because when I see posts referring to ‘omg, there was only one bed’ on Tumblr it always makes me smile. This trope can be used for romantic or gen fic. Make it serious or have fun with it. I hope that whatever you come up with makes you smile.
Two characters have to share a room for the night. Every room is occupied, but fortunately there is one last room available. There's just one problem — there's only one bed, and the characters aren't comfortable sharing it. ~TVTropes
Gen bed sharing gets two characters into bed for reasons other than sex. While not always, the trope is usually employed as an off-shoot of hurt/comfort, with the emotional and physical comfort offered after bad dreams, emotional meltdowns, and physical injury. Both characters are portrayed as finding relief with this close contact. ~Fanlore
Go ahead and twist the challenge however you want, it’s up to you. *g*
You have two weeks to write your fic and post or link to it here. I will post a new challenge on Wednesday, April 1st.
This week’s challenge doesn’t inspire you? Check out our previous challenges numerically or alphabetically.
If at any time you need to refresh your memory about subject lines, headers, or anything else, check out the rules on the profile page.
Have fun!
(Please feel free to suggest future challenges in the comments to this post.)
