The young Prince moves through the bustling crowd with the cantering elegance of the finest of his species. He passes table after table, males and females alike, with barely a glance at any of them, but suddenly, his head raises. He looks toward the high-pitched, squealing sound, his ears flickering back and forth before flattening against his furry head.
The noise is painful to his ears, and to the ears of others around him, but the Prince notes a desperation in the squeaks and prances closer. He looks at the tiny fellow making all the noise, then looks to the stage where his gaze is focused with complete attention. A strange animal is singing a love song. He doesn't understand most of the words, and he doubts the cricket does either, but the alien language isn't what's important. The female is moving her furry, little body with clear intentions.
The cricket sighs dreamily again, then begins to squeak once more. Bambi cocks his head to one side as he studies him. It's difficult to make out cricket language, but he catches on to enough words to understand the other animal's dilemma. He smiles. He knows how to solve this problem! Old Owl told him long ago what this problem is and all that it entails!
The Prince edges closer, stepping carefully around subjects both big and small. Reaching the cricket's table, he leans closer and tells him in a confident voice, "I know what your problem is. You're twitterpated!" He blows out the last word with such a breath that the cricket is knocked over by his breath. He flips over several times before falling off of his table, and then he just lays where he lands, still gazing up at the singer.
They say her name is Angel, and to him, she truly is an Angel. Perhaps he is twitterpated, as the deer says. He's not quite sure what it means. He knows very little English, hailing from China himself, but he knows enough to know what he needs. He needs Angel to look at him. He needs to share this . . . twitterpation with her! He sighs dreamily again and stays where he's landed, heedless of all the feet and paws moving quickly around him.
Bambi jumps to the cricket's side just in time to block some one from stepping on him. He reaches down and nudges the little bug with his nose. "Come on, get up," he says encouragingly. "She'll never notice you if you stay on the floor." Carefully, he lifts the cricket with his nose and carries him to the House of Mouse's center stage where Angel is singing karaoke.
"Good luck, little fellow," he whispers, then deposits him on the stage. Cri-Kee doesn't even have the strength to rise. He just gazes upon Angel's beautiful face and quivers from the top of his antennae to the ends of his long legs when she turns her alluring gaze onto him.
Bambi has started to move away, leaving Cri-Kee to his own devices to attract the alien, when one of his old friends speaks, "Hi, Bambi."
"Flower," Bambi bleats in surprise, and then, he, too, is lost. His eyes are as big and innocent as they first were when looking upon the little skunk all those years ago, and Flower surely is still as pretty as his namesake. They blush while gazing into each other's eyes, and for the adoring animals, time seems to stand still.
Owls hoot, Witches cackle, and ghosts boo, watching the plays between species below them. It's that time of the year again when most of the animals are lost! It's Twitterpation Season, and rather a Prince or a bug, all are affected! Even those who would watch lovers making fools of themselves to earn the attention of those who have struck them twitterpated are soon distracted by other beings, each and every one of them twitterpated by another.
