Suicide Pact
Setsuna tapped a pen against his cheek, uncaring of the marks it left on the rough skin. Sakuya eyed him carefully, but said nothing, choosing to tinker instead with one of the many ringlets he wore.
'What?' Setsuna snapped finally, glaring. 'You called me here; what do you want?'
Sakuya grinned. 'That's how you address your friends. Shame on you.'
The brunet snorted, turning his face away so the blue pen marks on his face were all the more obvious. 'Whatever.'
Sakuya watched; Setsuna continued tapping the pen against his cheek.
'To be honest, I wanted to talk to you.'
'Tch.'
'But it's useless, isn't it?'
Setsuna eyed him, then turned away again. 'You're on your way to jail,' he said carelessly. 'It's a bit late to be saying anything now.'
'I've got ways out of it,' Sakuya pointed out. 'You…your mother would only be too happy to keep you there, and your father doesn't give a damn –'
'Like I cared about that!' Setsuna finally turned properly, eyes blazing. One hand came down, knocking over the teacup the other had placed there. The teabag hung half in, half out, and brown liquid spilt across the newspaper, smudging the photo of the bloodied blade and the blaring words staring for its owner. For him.
His fists clenched.
'Setsuna,' Sakuya said firmly, leaning over the desk. 'You've got things to live for. Like Sara; are you just going to leave her alone?'
Setsuna turned his face away again, the sporadic scribbles of his pen glaring in the dim light. 'Sara's better off without me.'
'She's not, and you know it full well.' Sakuya smiled: a proper smile this time. 'You killed for her after all. And I'm not letting you go to jail for that either; I'll be in and out within the day, and we can all get on with our lives.'
'Yeah, whatever.' Setsuna pushed his chair away. 'I need to pick her up soon.'
'Setsuna, wait.'
The brunet paused.
'At least smile and say you won't do anything stupid while I'm gone.'
Setsuna growled, but forced a painful looking grin on his face. 'I won't do anything stupid,' he recited, before scowling immediately after. 'Happy?'
The door banged behind him, and Sakuya let his own smile slide off. 'Not at all,' he sighed. 'Since I know you're going to do exactly that.' He turned to his phone book, flipping through and searching for a number before typing it in. The phone rang once before it was picked up.
'This had better be important,' the voice from the receiver snapped.
'Does somebody about to commit suicide count?' Sakuya asked seriously.
