"Okay, so five lightning stones make a cloudburst stone, right?" Pippin nodded, "And this voltremor thing we're making, it needs a cloudburst and a quake?"
"And a quake is...?"
"Three rumbles, which are each made of five earth stones."
"And you get lightning and earth stones by...?"
"Traipsing around and around monster-infested hellscapes, sifting through a whole pile of crap that's probably giving off malign magical radiation or something, and getting bored and hungry and cold and into more fights," Fang sighed, "Oh yeah, and the actual alchemy process costs money."
"To be fair, you'll make a mint from the bounties on the monsters and selling all the things you pick up that aren't what you're looking for. But apart from that, yes, you've got the general idea. You're learning fast, my young apprentice."
"Why is my learned master some sort of deformed plushie again?" Fang sighed.
"Deformed plushie with a sword stuck through his big ugly head," Pippin corrected, "Yes, I know what people call me. But you'll learn in time that this is actually quite a highly evolved form. Nature doesn't really care about human standards of beauty, you see, except when its trying to lure humans to their death with something fascinatingly beautiful."
"And that's how girls work. I've learned that by now," he sighed, "Do your old adventuring notes at least give us a general idea where we can find these dumb-ass element stones?"
Pippin nodded, "Down to the correct dungeon, at least."
"This dumb quest reward better be worth it."
